My research examines the ways in which services allow consumers to address mundane life tasks (i.e., daily hassles) and the conditions under which service use enhances consumer outcomes such as well-being. My research further examines the role of consumer capability to select and interact with services for such tasks. I would like to develop the concept of service literacy (i.e., an individual’s capacity to make decisions related to the application of another entity’s competencies to their needs) as an important factor in the consumer’s selection and effective use of services in minimizing the well-being effects of overwhelming mundane life tasks.
Research
My work is centered on consumer well-being, service literacy, and consumer behavior, with particular attention to the role of services in everyday life.
How everyday life tasks, stressors, and consumer experiences are associated with life satisfaction and well-being.
Consumers’ capability to evaluate, select, and interact effectively with services that address their needs.
How consumers make decisions about services and products, including financial and technology-enabled offerings.
